How to unblur a photo on a Samsung phone

Open the photo in Samsung Gallery, tap the three-dot menu and choose Remaster picture. It improves blur, brightness and noise in one tap, for free. For old scans, small faces and images flattened by chat apps, a dedicated app goes further.
Remaster picture in Samsung Gallery
Remaster is part of the Gallery app on Galaxy phones running recent versions of One UI. It analyses the photo and applies up to three fixes at once: blur improvement, brightness and noise reduction.
- Open the photo in Gallery
Use Samsung’s own Gallery app rather than Google Photos; Remaster lives in Samsung’s viewer.
- Open More options
Tap the three-dot menu. On some One UI versions Remaster also appears as a suggestion under the photo.
- Choose Remaster picture
The phone processes the image and shows a before and after comparison.
- Save a copy
Save as a copy where the option is offered, so the original stays in your gallery untouched.
Where it stops. Remaster has no strength control and treats the whole frame the same way. It is built for recent phone photos, so faded scans, scratches, tiny faces in group shots and images flattened by chat apps get little from it. On older or budget Galaxy models the option may not appear at all.
Why Galaxy photos come out soft
Most blur on a Galaxy comes from how the shot was taken, not from the lens. Zooming past the optical telephoto on your model crops and enlarges digitally, so a 10x shot from a phone with a 3x lens is mostly reconstruction. Heavy beauty filters smooth skin and fine texture. In dim light the camera lengthens the exposure, and anything moving smears.
Tapping to focus on the subject and using Night mode in dark rooms prevents more blur than any edit can fix afterwards.
Galaxy Enhance-X
Samsung also makes a separate free app, Galaxy Enhance-X, with individual tools including Fix Blur. It launched on flagship and foldable models and spread from there, so check the Galaxy Store on your phone. Reviewers found its blur fix solid on recent shots and its old-photo restoration inconsistent.
When a dedicated app is the better route
Remaster is the right first try for a photo taken on the phone last week. Reach for a dedicated app when the photo is a scan of an old print, when the problem is a face in a group shot, or when the image came through WhatsApp or a text and is blocky rather than soft. Those need a model matched to the problem, and a resolution increase Remaster does not offer.
The tool to start with is Unblur photo.
Questions
Where is Remaster picture on my Samsung phone?
In the Samsung Gallery app: open a photo and tap the three-dot More options menu. If it is not there, your model or One UI version does not support it, and Galaxy Enhance-X or Google Photos is the free alternative.
How do I fix blurry photos on a Samsung for free?
Try Remaster picture in Gallery first; it is free and built in. If the result is not enough, the Unblur tool in Google Photos is also free on most recent Android phones.
Why are my Samsung zoom photos blurry?
Beyond the optical zoom of your phone’s telephoto lens, Galaxy cameras crop and enlarge digitally, so the detail is lost at capture. Shoot at the lens’s native zoom step and crop afterwards instead.
